ABOUT ANGALEE DEFOREST:
"Certain perfect moments in time exist for each of us. They are captured in painting through color and light. Creating the work is the joy. Making that special connection with the viewer is the art."
A professional artist for over thirty years, Angalee DeForest studied fine art at the University of Texas in Austin, and independently with nationally known artists throughout the United States. Born in Louisiana, she spent her early years in Texas, Oklahoma and Venezuela.
Angalee's devotion to her art and diciplined determination to advance her skills has never wavered. She taught painting and figurative sculpture for four years at the Eastern Shore Art Association Academy in the coastal community of Fairhope, Alabama before moving to the Bay Area of Northern California where she created a large body of work reflecting greater exploration of pastel, oil, and sculpture. Returning to the East Coast, she found inspiration in its geographical beauty and cultural diversity.
ANGALEE DEFOREST’S WORK:
Influenced by life and travel in the exotic Hawaiian and Phillippine Islands, and in the Far East, her work is rich in color, texture, and light. Painting in plein air from the Low Country of the Carolinas and Virginia to the Hudson River Valley and New England, infused her work with a fresh impressionistic style. Now living in Rockport, Texas, she is creating a new portfolio of work reflecting the exciting colors and compositions of the South and Southwest.
Her work receives many awards and consistent acceptance in national juried exhibitions. Her art is firmly based in a foundation of sound classical training, excellent design and keen observation. Her meditative, yet enthusiastic approach reflects in both her work and her teaching. Angalee's work is currently represented by Felder Gallery in Port Aransas, Texas and Wind Way Gallery in Rockport, Texas. She teaches workshops in oil, pastel, and color theory.
