It doesn't always translate like that to English. If you stick completly to the Haiku rules the poem needs to involve a season (easier if the language has certain words associated to seasons.) They also tend to involve imagry from nature.
English it is normally 575, or 573, but that is generally overlooked, sometimes short, long, short.
